ISOC (Internet Society) has announced the annual Call for Nominations, for the organizations' 2015 Jonathan B. Postel Service Award (with a deadline of May 15th, 2015). Presentation of the award at IETF (Internet Engineering Task Force) #93. IETF 93 is slated for Sunday, 19 Jul 2015 through and inclusive of Friday, 24 Jul 2015 in stunningly beautiful Prague, Czech Republic.

ISOC Releases 2015 Internet Governance Survey Results
ISOC - the Internet Society, has released the compiled results of the organizations' 2015 Internet Governance Survey (download the PDF here). Via the 2015 Internet Governance Survey, the primary takeaways are:
The majority of respondents (86%) indicated that Cybersecurity is the most important issue facing the Internet community today;
The priorities for the community are to make Internet governance easier to understand (with 75% feeling that this is “Extremely” or “Very Important”) and to develop and share best practices amongst countries and communities (70% indicating that this was Extremely” or “Very Important”);
A high percentage of respondents (90%) indicated that informal local and regional communities should be enhanced while 87% of respondents want the global, regional, and national Internet Governance Forums (IGFs) to be enhanced; and
27% of respondents think NMI is needed for effective Internet governance, while 56% indicated that they are unclear as to whether NMI is needed, and 17% think it is not needed.

ISOC, Mahabir Pun Receives Jonathan B. Postel Award
ISOC, The Internet Society, has named the Jonathan B. Postel Award recipient for 2014 - Mahabir Pun. The Award was presented to Mr. Pun for his role in Nepalese internet access efforts, thereby increasing knowledge, literacy in the Himalaya region and the founding of the Nepal Wireless Networking Project. Congratulations!

The award is named for Dr. Jonathan B. Postel to recognize and commemorate the extraordinary stewardship exercised by Jon over the course of a 30 year career in networking. He served as the editor of the RFC series of notes from its inception in 1969 until 1998. He also served as the ARPANET "numbers Czar" and Internet Assigned Numbers Authority over the same period of time. He was a founding member of the Internet Architecture (nee Activities) Board and the first individual member of the Internet Society, where he also served as a Trustee.
